13th PNHRS Week Celebration: 3-Minute Pitch to Policymakers Competition

In celebration of the 13th Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) Week this August 13-16, 2019 held at the Limetkai Luxe Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City, a Pre-conference Session: 3-Minute Pitch to Policymakers Competition was conducted.

The competition focuses on the presentation of successfully completed health research studies with the aim of exercising and cultivating researchers’ presentation and research communication skills as a way of sharing evidence to stakeholders and policymakers.

It was participated by outstanding scientists and researchers throughout the regions within the country. The participants were asked to present their completed research in a three-minute, one-slide presentation for a non-specialist audience based on set criteria. 

Here are the winners of the 3-Minute Pitch to Policymakers Competition.

1st Place – Dr. Jed V. Madlambayan from Region 3 with pitch title “Youth: Know AIDS, Stop AIDS”

2nd Place – Dr. Norbel A. Tabo from 4A with pitch title “Leptospira in human – abattoir environment interface”

3rd Place – Dr. Ginbert P Cuaton from Region 8 with pitch title “Reproductive Health in Rural-Poor Municipalities: Challenges in Eastern Visayas, Philippines”

People’s Choice Award – Dr. Benkassar  A. Abdurajak from Region 9 with pitch title “ Buccal Cell Micronuclei among Betel Quid Chewers and Non-Betel Quid Chewers”

Videos of the winners of the 3-Minute Pitch to Policymakers will be disseminated in the PCHRD Website’s Policy Corner upon the consent of the presenter. 

This year’s celebration of the PNHRS Week is hosted by the Northern Mindanao Consortium for Health Research and Development (NorMinCOHRD) with the theme, “Achieving Health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through Research and Innovation”.

The PNHRS is an integrated national framework for health research in the country. It is a convergence strategy that aims to promote cooperation and integration of all health research efforts and stakeholders in the country to ensure that research contributes to evidence-informed health policies and actions.
